Torrevieja Nightlife

As the sun sets over the Mediterranean, Torrevieja’s residents and holidaymakers start to pack up their beach gear, wash off the salt & sand and think about the night ahead. Torrevieja welcomes visitors during the day with it’s fantastic beaches, marinas, promenades, parks and plazas, so too does it offer vibrant and exciting nightlife. The large town has a wonderful choice of night time activities such as movie theatres, music & cabaret shows, late night shopping malls, floodlit sports centres, night markets, festivals, bars, restaurants and of course, night clubs. Torrevieja has a lovely cosmopolitan feel with local Spanish residents, expats and holidaymakers from Spain, Europe and the United Kingdom enjoying all that this lively town has to offer, both day and night.

Cinema & Theatre

There are several movie theatres in Torrevieja, although in this modern age with DVD’s being released within weeks, and sometimes even days, of movies hitting the box office, the movie theatre industry is sadly in decline. Cines IMF Torrevieja is located on Poligono San Jose 10 and usually have eight movie choices, although, which can be watched in English, is often not advertised and visitors are best advised to give them a call beforehand on 902221622. Torrevieja’s Municipal Theatre has an appealing modern design and has been recognised as one of Spain’s most important architectural works. Located in the Plaza Miguel Hernandez, near the harbour, the theatre seats approximately 700 people with additional dressing rooms, offices, a meeting room, VIP area and large spot lit rehearsal room. The theatre plays host to many cultural events, music concerts, cabaret shows and plays. For a more elaborate affair, including dinner and drinks as well as popular international artists, bands and cabaret shows, the famous Benidorm Palace is just over an hours drive from Torrevieja and makes for a spectacular evening. There are various coach trips to Benidorm that include party nights where passengers are dropped in the city to enjoy an evening of wining & dining or nightclubbing and return to the coach at a designated time for the return journey to Torrevieja. There are also options like a coach and Benidorm Palace dinner and show or coach, dinner and show with one night of accommodation.

Shopping

Torrevieja is home to a few shopping malls but the Habaneras Centre is by far the largest. Situated next to the residential area of Torreta 11 and near the Aquopolis water park on Avenida Rosa Mazon, the mall has a great range of shops, boutiques, cafe’s, bars, takeaways and restaurants. It is clean and bright, offers ample parking and is open year round from 10:00 am – 10:00 pm daily. Less than a 10-minute drive south from Torrevieja is the fantastic La Zenia Boulevard, the largest shopping complex in the province of Alicante and one of the largest in Europe. The Boulevard houses over 150 of the finest shops imaginable, where you can find just about anything your heart could desire including a selection of high street brands and a lovely dining level with popular takeaway chains such as Burger King and various restaurants offering sea views. Nightly entertainment is provided in the lower courtyard and there is even a late night casino. The Boulevard is open year round from 10:00 am – 10:00 pm daily.

Sports

With Torrevieja’s excellent weather, sports are high on the agenda, and throughout the town and beach areas, there is a great range of sporting facilities and sports centres. Torrevieja Sports City is an amazing, ultra-modern sporting complex that caters for just about every sport imaginable. The complex is vast and hosts many national and international sporting events, within the complex and at other venues in the area. As Torrevieja has a large working population, it is a bonus that the centre is open until late in the evening, allowing those that work during the day to still enjoy sports and exercise.   Sports City is located on Av Monge Y Bielsa and is open daily from 09:00 am – 11:00 pm.

Torrevieja’s promenade is a popular place for an evening walk, enjoying the cool sea breeze while deciding where to wine & dine the night away. Many visitors also browse the stalls at the nearby night market, also known as the ”hippy market” due to the abundance of homemade trinkets, jewellery and local arts & crafts. There are about 100 stalls and the market is open nightly from 08:00 pm – midnight. After an evening stroll and a meal in one of the many excellent restaurants, most holidaymakers head for the bars and nightclubs where patrons can dance until the small hours. The town offers a good choice of late night bars and nightclubs and most of the party crowd head for Keeper Bar, which is the place to be before heading to the clubs. Located on the beachfront just across from the night market. Another popular place for pre-club drinks is Pub Drakkar, located just around the corner from Keeper.

OZ Nightclub

OZ Nightclub has been an institution in Torrevieja since it first opened when it was originally called Pacha, it is the best-known club in town and features lively Dj’s and events such as foam and glow parties. The club also hosts special events and shows throughout the year as well as drink & shot specials and weekly prizes. There is a VIP Lounge, perfect for private parties and corporate events and a roof terrace for smokers to enjoy a puff. OZ is open Wednesday to Sunday from 12:00 pm – 07:00 am and is located on Avenida Delfine Viudes. The long established Love Discoteca & Terrace Bar is another firm favourite with clubbers that has a large chill out terraces with Turkish style beds to relax on, excellent Dj’s, weekly events and dance performances. Love is open on Friday & Saturday from midnight – 07:00 am and is located in Casagrande industrial estate on Calle Antonio Ruiz Coves 26. Something for all the family during the day and disco divas at night, 222 Tropical Garden is a popular pizzeria/bar located on the beach front, on Playa los Locos, with live entertainment and up to date music.

Playa Flamenca & Cabo Roig

Less than a 10-minute drive along the coast from Torrevieja brings you to the heart of the Orihuela Costa, an area of residential and holiday resorts, extremely popular all year round. Playa Flamenca has a selection of commercial centres, 2 of which face the N332 dual carriageway and the sea beyond. The Playa Flamenca commercial centre is home to some lively bars, shops and restaurants with the most popular party venue being Legends Bar. Although open all year round, Legends comes alive during the summer months when they feature well known Dj’s, live music acts and theme nights that see the place packed to the rafters with happy revellers. Next door is La Mosca commercial centre where visitors can party all night and watch the sunrise over the ocean, from the terrace of the recently opened and fantastic Prestige Discoteca. Owned and run by the charismatic Gerry and his lovely wife Laura, Prestige, as the name suggests, offers guests a wonderful night of dancing in glamorous surroundings with state of the art music and lighting systems. There is a VIP lounge and a substantially stocked bar. Further along the N332 is the Cabo Roig strip, a collection of bars and restaurants including Bushwacka, a firm favourite with the younger party crowd. The bar gets packed and the music is loud, but with the latest in dance music and great value drinks specials, the crowds just keep on coming. So, for a holiday that offers beautiful sandy beaches, loads of exciting things to do and excellent nightlife, Torrevieja has it all.
